Four Injured In Shark Attacks On Texas South Padre Island

Four Injured in Shark Attacks on Texas' South Padre Island

Three victims attacked by shark, one injured fending off attack

Latest in a series of attacks in the area

At least one shark attacked four people off the coast of South Padre Island, Texas, on July 4th, authorities said. One man suffered a severe bite, while the other three victims sustained minor injuries.

The attacks occurred between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. within the city limits of South Padre Island. The victims were swimming or wading in the water when they were attacked.

The man who suffered the severe bite was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition. The other three victims were treated at the scene.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is investigating the attacks. It is not yet known what type of shark was involved.

This is the latest in a series of shark attacks in the area. In June, a 16-year-old boy was killed by a shark in Galveston, Texas.

Experts say that the increase in shark attacks is likely due to a number of factors, including warmer water temperatures and a growing population of seals and other marine life that sharks prey on.
